I've been away from my desk, but dropping in to share some reading recommendations from subscribers.
Thanks to LeeAnn for writing in about a new book coming out April 3rd. Rocket Men: The Daring Odyssey Of Apollo 8 and the Astronauts Who Made Man's First Journey To The Moon by Robert Kurson.
LeeAnn
read an advanced readers copy and says, "I liked that it was a very personable account where the technology was a supporting character, not the main focus. The book celebrates this being the 50 year anniversary of the mission that lost the limelight to the actual moon landings. Missions that needed this stepping stone to insure they would even happen."
And thanks to Quinn for reminding us
Timothy Egan, is always a great choice.
She says, "I have listened to three of Timothey Egan's excellent books: I especially liked The Short Nights of the Shadow Catcher: The Epic life & Imortal Photographs of Edward Curtis. Curtis captured images of
the American Indians before the tribes vanished. The photographs are great.
The other books were, The Big Burn: Teddy Roosevelt and the Fire that Saved America. It describes the huge fire at Wallace, Idaho and how it lead to the government supporting the Forest
Service. The 3rd book is, The Worse Hard Times, The Untold Story of Those who Survived the Dust Bowl."
