Hello ,

I'm traveling this week, so just a quick note. I'm on vacation in Louisiana and Mississippi, my first travels to this part of the country.

First stop, Pass Christian, M.S. where I visited my niece Angelica who works for NASA at Stennis Space Center as a test engineer. She took us on a tour of the test stand where the rockets for Saturn 5 and the space shuttles were tested.

Next stop the Whitney Plantation near New Orleans. L.A. It's a former indigo and sugar plantation turned into a museum that focuses on the lives of enslaved people, and serves as a memorial to those who built and worked the plantation. Memorials list the names of many of the individual enslaved people and sculptures portray actual enslaved children.

This plantation museum was incredibly moving and I learned a lot. Don't miss it if you're ever in New Orleans.
