In the interview Steve touches on all my books and my research and writing processes,

though he most specifically wanted to hear about Close-up on War: The Story of Pioneering Photojournalist Catherine Leroy in Vietnam.

He loved the book! I'm so appreciative of all the good things he says about it, such as, "I inhaled the book in one day."

Though it's the story of a combat photographer, Steve believes the real power of the story, the important take away, is not that Catherine took incredible pictures of the Vietnam conflict, but rather, how she overcame discrimination as a woman in a man's field.

My book is the true story of an audacious 21-yr-old with no photography experience, who, in 1966, flew to Vietnam on a 1-way ticket. Within a year her photos were published around the world and her jealous male competitors tried to get her kicked out of the war zone.

Catherine was holding her own against male photojournalists at time when body bags were coming home to America in ever-increasing numbers and most American women were housewives, unaware of the fledgling equal rights movement.

Steve was impressed with how I used snippet of Catherine's letters to her parents to begin each chapter. (50 second video)
